Walks in the nature (PART 1)

Unexpected as it might be, Málaga is one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain creating the microclimate for which the Costa del Sol is famous for.

Close to La Finca there are the areas of Sierra Blanca, Sierra Canucha and Sierra de las Nieves with many options for trails and walks that offer great views of mountains and the sea.

Once the summer heat is over the weather conditions from October to June seem perfect to me for

trekking: Lot of sun light but not too hot. Open nature and clean air: what is better than that to overcome the adversities of the winter period?

Hence for our family next travel to La Finca (foreseen for the last week of October) trekking is in the menu.

I must still explore in depth the area (and my family with me though they do not know it yet). I am inspired by an article that we read recently about Valle del Genal: http://www.ocholeguas.com/2009/09/30/espana/1254310015.html?pestana=1

(in Spanish only)

The article mentions the Pico de la Torrecilla, which is the highest in Malaga's province at 1919 metres. It is an excellent option to know the natural Park Sierra de las Nieves, declared a natural zone in 1989 and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1995. From the peak in a clear day you can see the mountains in Africa, Sierra Nevada (Grenade) and some of the white villages close to Ronda.

Nevertheless we will not try it this time since I think my kids are too young for it.

Within the Valle del Genal I found this circular one of 10 km which is the one we will try http://es.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=8963703

I am looking forward to updating soon this blog with our experience and pictures of the walk

Some good webs that I found that give you information about the nature in Malaga or trails are these ones:
